The Giro de Lombardia will bring together the great figures of the peloton for the last time in the 2021 season. The last monument of the year will allow us to see a race full of spectacle and that significantly changes its route compared to the route of the 2020 edition.
Profile and route of the Tour of Lombardy
The Tour of Lombardy, also known as ‘The Classic of the Dead Leaves’ will present a 239 kilometer route between Como and Bergamo in which the great figures of the peloton will meet. The climb to Madonna del Ghisallo will be the first serious test for the runners, who will have several quiet kilometers before facing the climbs first to Roncola (9.4 km at 6.6%) and then to Berbenno (6.8 km. 4.6%). The race will get even tougher in the final hundred kilometers with the demanding climb to Dossena (11 km. At 6.2%) and the Zambla Alta ramps (9.5 km. At 3.5%), although everything points to that the decisive moment will take place in the ascent to Passo di Ganda, from 9.2 kilometers at 7.3% and final ramps at 15%, which will crown 32 kilometers from the finish line. A quick descent will take runners to Colle Aperto, the last chance to break the race just 3 kilometers from the finish line in Bergamo.

At the Giro de Lombardia, the presence of great figures from the peloton is expected to try to conquer the last monument of the season and succeed Jakob Fuglsang, who won the 2020 edition. Riders such as world champion Julian Alaphilippe , Joao Almeida, Remco Evenepoel, Aleksandr Vlasov, Emanuel Buchmann, Rogoberto Urán, Thiabut Pinot, Michael Woods, Adam Yates, Gianni Moscon, Primoz Roglic, Dan Martin, Alejandro Valverde, Simon Yates, Romain Bardet, Vincenzo Nibali or the Tour champion France’s Tadej Pogacar will be some of the riders to watch in the last major road cycling race of the season.
