A Premier League footballer was threatened with a weapon by a player agent in London last September, an incident that has now identified Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie as the target and prompted an ongoing police investigation.
Tottenham confirmed its support for Udogie and his family, stating the club cannot comment further due to the legal nature of the case.
“We have been supporting Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given that this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further,” a Tottenham source told British media.
The incident unfolded on a busy London street at night, where Udogie was walking with a friend. They were reportedly approached by the agent, who was wielding a weapon.
The agent, known to represent several players, was arrested two days following the threat.
Destiny Udogie is an Italian international left-back. He joined Tottenham ahead of the 2022/23 season, although he spent that campaign on loan at Udinese.
Udogie has made 10 appearances for Spurs in the current season. Reports identifying the player initially surfaced in Italian media before being corroborated by the English club.
