Surprise success of the year 2021 with very rave reviews and over 300,000 spectators in theaters despite a ban on those under 16, Titanium is preparing to represent France at Oscars 2022. Despite strong controversies in Cannes regarding the film’s ultra-violence, it’s good Titanium and Julia Ducournau who received the Palme d’Or To Cannes This year. A great artistic success that could well be consolidated at Oscars next year. Indeed, last week, Titanium was in the race with two other French feature films to represent the country during the ceremony: Cédric Jimenez’s Bac Nord as well as Audrey Diwan’s Event.
It is ultimately the film worn by Agathe Rousselle and Vincent Lindon which was selected but it has yet to be chosen by the Academy of Oscars to represent the category of best foreign film. The final selection will be declared on February 8th. Until then, we will have to wait for the short-list of 15 international films chosen by the Academy, which will be published on December 21, 2021.
