Three Indian Players Won World Championships without Playing the Final, Shared a Common IPL Team

4 Indian players became world champions without playing the final match, 3 have played matches for the same IPL team

Indian Cricket Team Wins T20 World Cup 2024 Title

The Indian cricket team has won the T20 World Cup 2024 title by defeating South Africa by 7 runs. This marks India’s second T20 World Cup win, ending a 17-year wait.

Unbeaten Throughout the Tournament

The Indian team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, winning all 8 of its matches. This is the first time a team has won the T20 World Cup title without losing a single match.

Players Who Did Not Play But Won the Trophy

Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Mohammad Siraj were not part of the playing XI in the final match against South Africa. However, they were part of the Indian squad and have won the T20 World Cup trophy. Mohammad Siraj played in the first three matches but failed to perform well, making way for Kuldeep Yadav.

IPL Connection

Three players – Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Yuzvendra Chahal – play for the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Unfortunately, none of them got a chance to play in a single match in the entire tournament, as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma formed a strong opening partnership.

Virat Kohli’s Half Century

In the final match, the Indian team won the toss and batted first, scoring 176 runs. The team had a bad start with the early exits of Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant, but Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings, scoring 76 runs and taking the team to a respectable score. The South African team could not stand in front of the Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya, and was bowled out for 169 runs.
