New Zealand cricket team
Injuries to players in cricket are common these days. Players play so much cricket all over the world that they face many problems. Many players stay away from professional cricket for years due to injuries. Something similar happened with a star player. That player is none other than Kyle Jamieson from New Zealand. The same Kyle Jamieson who defeated Team India through brilliant bowling in the WTC 2021 final.
I will stay away from cricket for a year
Kyle Jamieson has suffered another major blow after scans revealed a new stress fracture in his back, which is expected to keep him out of action for at least another year. The new injury is in the same part of the back where surgery was performed last year. However, this time he does not have to undergo surgery. Jamieson said in a statement: “The last few days have been the most challenging for me, but I am extremely grateful for the support I have received from my teammates, family, teammates, support staff and medical team. As a cricketer, I know that injuries are a part of life and I hope I have many more days to play at this age.”
Age association with injuries
The 29-year-old has had a disappointing past due to back problems. After suffering an injury in June 2022, he returned last February at home against England. But shortly before his return he suffered an injury that required surgery and ruled him out for a few months. Even though he made a successful comeback in all three formats after his recovery, he will no longer be able to take the field in 2024 due to the renewed injury.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said we had all seen how hard Kyle had worked to return to international cricket and it was difficult news for him to suffer such a setback. On the positive side, we know how determined he is to continue playing cricket for New Zealand and we will support him on his road to recovery. His determination has not wavered.
