There will be no other #46 in MotoGP

MotoGP announced on Saturday at Le Mans that on May 28, Saturday at Mugello, at the Italian GP, will withdraw from the competition the number 46 of the famous Valentino Rossi, who hung up the monkey at the end of last year after 26 active seasons.

The presence of the nine-time world champion is expected by then in an act with which the stands of the Tuscan circuit will surely come crashing down. The numbers that cannot be used anymore for this same reason in the queen class are Schwantz’s 34, Simoncelli’s 58, Capirossi’s 65, Hayden’s 69 and Kato’s 74. And in the other categories, Tomizawa’s 48 and Salom’s 39, from Moto2, and Dupasquier’s 50, of Moto3, being the day of the retirement of Rossi’s 46 the first anniversary of his tragic accident, precisely in Mugello.
