The new season of the Big Bash League started today (December 7). The Australian T20 Franchise League got off to a spectacular start with the game between Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat. Here, before the game, a scene caught everyone’s attention. In fact, the toss involved throwing a bat instead of a coin. The video of this incident is now going viral on social media.

When the bat was thrown, Melbourne Stars captain Glenn Maxwell called flats (flat part of the bat) and also won the toss. The captains of both teams and the presenters could also be seen smiling.

Maxwell won the toss here and elected to bowl first. His decision proved wrong and Brisbane Heat batted explosively, scoring 214 runs after losing three wickets. Captain Usman Khawaja scored 28 runs off 19 balls. Marnus Labuschagne was eliminated after scoring 30 runs in 23 balls. However, opener Colin Munro stayed at the end. He played an unbeaten innings of 99 runs off 61 balls. Sam Billings (18) and Max Bryant (15) also contributed to the score here.

Chasing that big target of 215 runs, the Melbourne Stars kept losing wickets right from the start. Both openers of the team returned to the pavilion with a total of 6 runs. Joe Burns (22), Glenn Maxwell (23) and Hilton Cartwright (33) definitely struggled but couldn’t make much of their quick innings. None of the remaining Melbourne batsmen were able to reach double figures. The result was that the entire team collapsed on itself in the 16th, scoring a total of 111 points. In this way, Brisbane Heat won this match by a huge margin of 103 runs. For the Melbourne team, Mitchell Swapson took three wickets, Michael Naseer and Xavier Bartlett took two wickets each. Colin Munro was named Player of the Match.
