It followed Belly, played by Lola Tung, as she navigated a love triangle with brothers Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). The show covered the first three books: The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You, and We’ll Always Have Summer. So, it was quite a shock when Han announced that more content was coming in movie form.
"There’s another big moment in Belly’s journey left to tell," Han shared in September 2025. "I felt only a movie could do it justice." She added thanks to Prime Video for supporting her vision and making this "final chapter" possible. For those who read Han’s novels, the series finale skipped a major event in Belly’s life: her wedding to Conrad. The books ended with a jump forward in time to Belly and Conrad’s special day. The show, however, didn’t include this, even though the couple did get back together on screen.
Good news for fans of Belly and Conrad: Prime Video revealed the movie with a picture of Lola Tung and Chris Briney together. This confirmed they would reprise their roles. A prominent entertainment news source, Us Weekly, later reported that Gavin Casalegno will also return. This is notable because Jeremiah’s romantic story with Belly wrapped up earlier in the series. Lola Tung

Tung, who plays Belly, will definitely return. She told Today in September 2025 that the cast knew about the movie for a while. "We knew for a while, but it’s fun for it to finally be out there," she commented. "I guess [Jenny] knows the most about it." Han also hinted at what’s to come, saying, "I can say that there’s another big milestone for Belly, so we’re going to keep going with that."
Christopher Briney
Briney will bring the internet’s favorite heartthrob, Conrad, back to life as his story with Belly continues in the movie.
Gavin Casalegno
As confirmed by Us Weekly, Casalegno will return as Jeremiah in the movie. This ensures both Fisher brothers will be part of Belly’s next chapter.
Sean Kaufman
Belly’s story wouldn’t be complete without her brother, Steven. So, it’s safe to assume Sean Kaufman will be back in his role.
Rain Spencer
The same goes for Belly’s best friend, Taylor, who is also Steven’s girlfriend. Her life in San Francisco could make for a great side story in the film. So, we expect Rain Spencer to return.

Since Denise is still seemingly dating Jeremiah, we can expect Isabella Briggs to return for the film.
Jackie Chung
Jackie Chung, who plays Belly’s mom, was seen at the series finale event in Paris where the movie was announced. Fans are taking this as a positive sign that she will return.
Rachel Blanchard
It wouldn’t be a story about Belly and the Fisher brothers without some mention of their mom, Susannah. Even if it’s just in flashbacks, it’s highly likely Rachel Blanchard will appear.
Tom Everett Scott
No official cast news has been shared for Tom Everett Scott. However, we have a hunch that Adam will show up at Conrad and Belly’s wedding. Maybe he will even bring the champagne he gave to Belly and Jeremiah for their called-off nuptials.
Colin Ferguson
If fans were wrong about that Season 3 scene hinting at Belly’s father passing away, then it’s very probable that Colin Ferguson will reappear in the movie.
