The Stars win fourth in a row and are close to the Final Series

The Stars took another step forward on Monday to qualify for the Final Series of the 2022-2023 autumn-winter baseball tournament by beating the Gigantes del Cibao 5-2 in a match held at the Julián Javier Stadium in this city.

Catcher José Briceño homered with the bases loaded in the seventh off reliever Luis Perdomo on the second pitch.

The victory of the greens was the fourth that they achieved in a row to continue tied at the top of the All against All with the Tigres del Licey, both with a 9-6 record.

The victory went to starter Phillips Valdez (1-1), who pitched five innings of just one hit, one walk and five strikeouts.

The setback fell on Pedro Fernández, who had a performance of five episodes of four hits, one run, two transfers and just one fanned batter. Meanwhile, the save was credited to Román Méndez, the first of the Round Robin.

Meanwhile, Fernández was replaced by Enmanuel Ramírez (1.0), Luis Perdomo (0.1), Luis Iván Rodríguez (1.2) and Michael Ynoa (1.0).

 The races

The Stars scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning on a Danny Santana hit to right field.

In the seventh episode, the team from the green banner increased their advantage considerably after José Briceño hit a home run with congested pads to make the score 5-0.

In the ninth, the Giants scored their only two runs, the first on a hit by Henry Urrutia down center field, and the second on a wild pitch by Román Méndez, which allowed Urrutia to score from third base.
