The Spaniards on the Tour: Carlos Rodríguez cuts 14 seconds with Hindley

The Tour de France has completed the ninth stage with the ascent of the Puy de Dome where the Canadian Michael Woods has taken the victory after beating Jorgenson at the end who could not keep up. A day for the Spanish where david de la cruz has been the best classified and Carlos Rodríguez has managed to cut 14 seconds on Hindley so it is close to the third step of the podium. This is how it went for the Spanish representation in the ninth stage of the Tour:

David de la Cruz (10th): The man from Astana was one of the 14 riders who attacked the peloton at the start of the day. He had very bad luck having to change bikes when he was only 22 kilometers from the finish line, so he could not continue in the group that was chasing Jorgenson at that time.

Gorka Izagirre (11th): Like de la Cruz, he broke away from the peloton in the group of 14 riders right at the start of the stage. In the end, he could not withstand the attack 47 kilometers from Jorgenson and entered 2 ′ 34 ′ ‘from Woods, winner of the test.

Carlos Rodriguez (17th): Great day for the man from Almuñécar who managed to cut 14 seconds off Hindley overall, bringing him closer to third on the podium. Carlos has tried to keep up with the favourites, Pogacar and Vingegaard, but has not been able to climb the Puy de Dôme although it cuts time for the Australian.

Pello Bilbao (22nd): The man from Bahrain – Victorious tried to get into the group with the first break, as he admitted at the end of the race, but it was impossible. After today’s stage, he is in 11th position in the general classification before the rest day.

Mikel Landa (27th): After the bad luck of yesterday’s fall, the Spaniard entered 11′ behind the winner as he could not keep up with the favorites at the time of the ascent to the Puy de Dôme.

Jonathan Castroviejo (30th): The man from Ineos was in the peloton until the attacks began to arrive in the last kilometers. Tomorrow you will be able to recharge your batteries on the first rest day of this 2023 Tour de France.

Ion Izagirre (33rd): The Cofidis rider joined his teammate, Guillaume Martin, in an uneventful stage and is now 47th overall after the climb to the Puy de Dôme.

Marc Soler (45th): Helped Pogacar until he had legs on a day when he did teamwork to help one of the favourites. Looking ahead to the next stages, he will continue his work at UAE Team Emirates.

Juanpe López (49th): He entered the same group as Marc Soler, almost 20 minutes behind the winner on a quiet day for the Spaniard.

Antonio Padrero (127th): The man from Movistar reached the finish line almost 29 minutes behind the winner, Michael Woods, in a stage that has not been the best for the cyclist.

Omar Fraile (140º): Like Padrero, he had a similar day where he entered the finish line in the same group.

Alex Aranburu (142nd): He arrived in the same group as Omar Fraile, which is having a discreet Tour, so it is expected that it will improve as the days go by.
