The new midfielder who is in Napoli’s sights

Napoli are looking for reinforcements for the winter market and one of the prominent names on their radar is talented Danish midfielder Maurits Kjaergaard, who is currently in the ranks of RB Salzburg.

At just 20 years old, Kjaergaard has already made a name for himself as captain of the Danish U21 national team, scoring six goals in 19 international matches at this level. His contract with Salzburg runs until June 2026 and although he is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, his potential has caught the attention of Napoli.

Napoli are looking for a midfielder to strengthen their rotation

According to reports, the asking price for the young Danish midfielder will be around €15 million, with the transfer expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Napoli are particularly interested in securing Kjaergaard’s signing in January, as Diego faces a possible departure for Demme in the middle of the season.

So far, Kjaergaard has played 15 competitive games for RB Salzburg and shone with two goals and five assists. His versatility in midfield and his ability to contribute in both creation and finishing make him an attractive target for Napoli, who are looking to strengthen the team under new coach Walter Mazzarri.

In addition to Kjaergaard, Albert Gronbaek, a 22-year-old midfielder from Bodo/Glimt who also has experience with the Danish U-21 national team, has also emerged as a candidate to strengthen Napoli’s midfield. Napoli are determined to reshape their squad under Mazzarri to attract young and promising talent who can enter the second half of the season with renewed strength.
