The biggest reason for the rising number of divorces in Kuwait has come to light.
Social media has been cited as the biggest reason for divorce, according to opinion polls. In this public opinion, 15% of people believe that the divorce rate is increasing in the country due to the negative effects of social media.
The study was prepared by the Center for Gulf and Arabian Studies under Kuwait University. The Center has identified a major reason for the divorce based on public opinion.
In the survey, 13% cited religious awareness as the main reason for divorce, while 9.8% cited interference in the marital relationship of relatives as the reason for divorce.
Ninety-two percent of those surveyed believe that undue freedom and convenience are also major causes of divorce.
