The Indian court ordered to pay 7 lakh rupees to the young Bangladeshi victim of rape

A state court in India has ordered maximum compensation to a Bangladeshi girl who was gang-raped by Bangladeshis in India. In May 2021, a young Bangladeshi woman was sexually assaulted and gang-raped by a group of youths in Bangalore, Karnataka state, India. A session court in Bangalore ordered to pay a maximum compensation of seven lakh rupees to the victim of torture.

The court observed that the young woman was in the clutches of an international trafficking ring. He was not yet an adult when he was trafficked. According to the gravity of the crime and the information available to the court, the young victim of torture is eligible for a compensation of Rs seven lakh under the National Legal Aid Authority (NALSA) compensation scheme. Therefore, the court directed the departmental legal aid center to immediately pay compensation to the young woman from India’s Nirbhaya Fund.

Meanwhile, during the trial process, in May 2022, India sent the abused young woman back to Bangladesh along with another Bangladeshi woman. Currently, the young woman is with her family in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh. Therefore, the court has asked the girl to appear through video call and pay the amount through e-payment. It is known that a human rights organization named Talas Association is trying to explain this money to the young woman.

In May 2021, a Bangladeshi named TikTok Riday and his three female friends were accused of sexually abusing and gang-raping and aiding in the rape of a young Bangladeshi girl in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. When a video of the young woman went viral on social media, Indian police took action. The victim of torture was rescued in the police operation. The accused were arrested.

A special court in Bangalore convicted 11 of the 12 accused in the rape of a Bangladeshi girl late last year. The court has sentenced seven of them to life imprisonment, one to 20 years and another to 5 years. The other two accused were sentenced to 9 months imprisonment under the Foreigners Act. One who was acquitted was a witness in the case. All of the 12 accused were Bangladeshis, three of whom were women.
