According to foreign media, the Russian President has announced in a ceremony in St. Petersburg on the occasion of Navy Day that hypersonic missiles will be provided to the Russian Navy soon. He said that these missiles will be deployed in the same areas, where it is necessary to protect Russian interests.
According to the news, this missile will be started to be delivered to the Russian Navy within the next few months. Further details of Russia’s “New Navy Doctrine” are currently being kept secret.
On this occasion, Putin also announced that Admiral Gorishkov would be the first officer to carry out his combat duties with these powerful weapons.
He said that the most important thing is that the Russian Navy is now able to respond to all adversaries with lightning speed, but he avoided mentioning Ukraine directly on this occasion.
Russia recently conducted successful tests of firing Zircon missiles from submarines and warships. President Putin is trying to maintain his naval supremacy in the region.
It should be noted that Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles are considered unique in the world. It can travel through the atmosphere at nine times the speed of sound. Russia conducted its first successful test of a hypersonic missile in 2018. This cruise missile has been named “SSN33” by the Western defense alliance NATO. The high-speed Zircon missile can hit its target up to 400 km.
