The harvest goes for 56 medals

The Dominican Republic established itself in the sixth position and came within two medals of the fifth place, which Puerto Rico occupies, after winning two gold medals and a pair of bronze in the VII day this Friday of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games that are celebrated in El Salvador.

The two gold medals were won by the horsewoman Yvonne Losos, in the equestrian competitions that are held in Santo Domingo as a sub-venue.

The bronze medals were obtained by the women’s racquetball team, and María González, wrestling athlete, in the freestyle.

With the four medals this Friday, the country reached a total of 56, including 9 gold, 17 silver and 30 bronze. Yvonne Losos lived up to expectations, closing leading the score with 75.519 in the freestyle test and giving the Dominican Republic its first two gold medals in equestrian dressage.

The quisqueyana amazon, with the horse Idwivaretto, won the modality in individual and overall.

The event took place at the Palmarejo Equestrian Center, in Santo Domingo, sub-venue of the regional sports games. With her triumph, the Dominican revalidates the title she obtained in the Central American Games in Barranquilla / Colombia, held in 2018, where she also won two golds and one silver.

With her award, she makes history in the Dominican equestrian as the first horsewoman to give the country a gold medal, as a sub-venue and also the first to do so at the competition venue.

In individual, Roberta Foster, from Barbados, who rode Chichic and took the bronze medal; the silver went to Juliana Gutiérrez Aguilera, from Colombia, who rode Planissimo.

The gold medal was awarded to Losos de Muñiz by José P. Monegro, president of the Santo Domingo 2026 Games Organizing Committee; the plant by Carmen Barrera, of the International Equestrian Federation and Manuel Ramos, vice president of the Dominican Olympic Committee and president of the Dominican Federation of Equestrian Sports.
