The BOMB signing Arteta demanded from Arsenal: Karim Benzema

Arsenal are exploring the possibility of a loan deal for experienced striker Karim Benzema, TEAMtalk can reveal. Although Chelsea have also considered signing the Frenchman, it appears the Gunners could be leading the race for the experienced attacker.

Karim Benzema, 36, joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad on a free transfer last June, but his situation at the club makes him a candidate for a return to European football. A year after winning the Ballon d'Or at Real Madrid, Benzema could bring his experience and quality to Arsenal.

Arsenal are looking for a striker

Although Manchester United were initially linked with possible interest in Benzema, the Red Devils reportedly have no intention of signing the striker in this transfer window. On the other hand, Arsenal, looking to strengthen their attacking line, are considering the option of a loan deal to bring in Benzema if a temporary agreement can be reached with the player.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has publicly admitted the need to strengthen the No.9 position in his team, particularly after Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah's struggles in front of goal this season. Although the rumors have been played down, links with the Brentford boss remain.

However, financial constraints in a winter transfer window make the loan option more viable for Arsenal. Although Benzema's salary could be a factor to consider, the opportunity to sign a striker with the Frenchman's quality and experience could be an effective solution for the Gunners as they look to strengthen their attacking front.
