An important update has come out of this meeting.

The yo-yo test is back

One major update from the BCCI Review Meeting is that players will now need to pass the Yo-Yo test to be selected back into the team. If players fail the test, they will not be selected. Yo-Yo Test A fitness test in which players’ fitness and stamina are tested. This test is taken completely with the help of technology. In this test, a cone is placed at 20 meters in which the players have to run.

Players will be monitored in IPL

The press release issued by the BCCI stated: “Emerging players will have to play enough domestic seasons to be eligible for selection in the national team. Yo-yo testing and dexa will now be part of the selection criteria and will be implemented in the custom roadmap for the core group of players. Keeping in mind the preparations for the Men’s FTP and ICC World Cup 2023, the NCA, along with the IPL franchises, will monitor the Indian players who will participate in IPL 2023.

Rohit-Dravid were present at the meeting

The meeting was attended by BCCI President Mr. Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma, India Team Head Coach Rahul Dravid, NCA Chief VVS Laxman. While Chetan Sharma was also part of the meeting. The roadmap for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup as well as player availability issues, workload management and fitness parameters were discussed in detail during the meeting.
