Reflexes

  • South Africa won the series 2-1 after losing the first Test
  • Australia beat England 4-0

Melbourne. Legendary Australian cricketer Ian Chappell feels that emotions came through during the recently concluded Test series between India and South Africa, while they were completely lacking in the one-sided Ashes series. After suffering a crushing defeat in the opening match of the three-match series, South Africa made a spectacular comeback with victories in the second and third tests to take the score 2-1.

Chappell wrote in his column on ‘ESPNcricinfo’, ‘South Africa beat India in a surprising fashion like an old-fashioned ‘dogfight’ that included exciting cricket. There was a lot of emotion involved in that that was completely missing during Ashes matches.

The former Australian captain said: “The South Africa series showed a complete mastery of bowling at pitches which may have been more beneficial to the team’s pitch, but they also showed some great batting.”

In this, both teams continued to challenge each other throughout the series, while the Ashes series between traditional rivals Australia and England was completely one-sided.
