The 7 players who could leave River Plate in January

In the maelstrom of the transfer market, River Plate finds itself at a crossroads with several of its key players set to change scenery in January 2024. Under the leadership of Martín Demichelis, the club is trying to balance additions and departures to strengthen its squad for the next edition of the Conmebol Libertadores Cup.

Here we tell you the seven players who could leave River Plate at the end of the current Argentine football season:

The possible departures from River Plate

-Nico de La Cruz: Nicolás de la Cruz heads the list of possible departures. The 26-year-old Uruguayan midfielder, with a contract until December 2025, has attracted the attention of clubs in Brazil and Europe with an estimated value of €10 million.

-Enzo Perez: Another notable name is Enzo Pérez, the experienced 37-year-old Argentine midfielder. With his contract expiring in December this year, his future at the club is uncertain and River Plate must make important decisions in this regard.

-Bruno Zuculini: Bruno Zuculini, the 30-year-old midfielder, is also on the list of possible departures. His contract ends in December this year and there are signs that he will not remain at the club next season.

-Matias Suarez: Striker Matías Suárez, 35, is another player whose contract expires in December 2023. Although several Argentine clubs have expressed interest in signing him as a free agent, his stay at River Plate has not yet been determined.

-Marcelo Herrera: Marcelo Herrera, a 25-year-old right-back, is being targeted by various clubs in Argentina and Europe. His contract, valid until December 2025, allows River Plate to consider a sale to obtain resources and strengthen other areas of the team.

-Leandro Gonzalez Pirez: Central defender Leandro González Pirez, 31, will return to MLS side Inter Miami after his loan spell at River Plate ends in December. Although his continuity at the Argentine club is uncertain, the defender’s fate will depend on the board’s decision.

-Agustin Palavecino: Finally, Agustín Palavecino, a 27-year-old attacking midfielder, faces an uncertain future. His contract until December 2025 and questionable performance under Demichelis could lead to his early exit, with several foreign clubs showing interest in signing him.
