Tesla Launches New Cybertruck Long Range with Lower Price and Longer Range

Tesla has rolled out a new version of its Cybertruck, the Long Range (RWD) model, in the US and Mexico. This rear-wheel drive model is priced at $69,990, making it the most affordable Cybertruck option. While it boasts a longer driving range, some features have been scaled back.

The original Cybertruck launch was in November 2019 with a starting price of $39,900. By late 2023, Tesla had planned three models: RWD, AWD, and Cyberbeast. The RWD model, with one motor, was set at $60,990 and was slated for late 2025 release. The AWD model, with two motors, offered better acceleration and towing capacity, while the Cyberbeast, with three motors, was the top-of-the-line model.

Cybertruck Long Range (RWD) Specifications

The new Long Range (RWD) has the following key specs:

  • Range: 350 miles (563 km)
  • Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds
  • Top speed: 180 km/h (111 mph)
  • No air suspension
  • No rear passenger screen

Using a single motor makes this model lighter. Tesla adjusted the suspension to lower the vehicle, improving its range. There’s speculation about whether the original $60,990 RWD model will still be available later this year or if the new Long Range (RWD) will replace it.

Tesla initially only sold Cybertruck in the US, Canada, and Mexico. On April 10, they expanded to Saudi Arabia, introducing the Long Range (RWD) model. Now, it’s available in the US and Mexico too.
