The Portuguese cycling squad, Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua, is really making its mark on the Tour of Venezuela. This Saturday, their rider Leangel Linarez secured the team’s impressive fourth stage victory in the race. Linarez rode strong, taking the win in the 7th stage.
Linarez, who had already snagged the third stage earlier, proved the fastest again today. He dominated the final push of the 106.3-kilometer route. The stage stretched from Maracay to Cagua. Linarez crossed the finish line in a swift 2 hours, 6 minutes, and 2 seconds. Venezuelan Edwin Torres came in just behind him, followed by Colombian Cristian Damian Velez.
This latest triumph brings the team’s total to four wins in the Tour of Venezuela. Their other successes include Portuguese cyclist César Martingil’s victory in the first stage. Fellow Portuguese rider Rafael Barbas also added a win by mastering the individual time trial.
The race is almost over now. The final stage is scheduled for Sunday. Riders will face a 120-kilometer course that begins and ends in Miranda.
