Athletes Gather in Tarragona
Tarragona is set to host a major athletics event from August 1 to 3, marking a significant milestone for the city. The 105th Spanish Absolute Outdoor Track Athletics Championship will take place at the Natalia Rodríguez stadium of the Mediterranean Ring, attracting top talent from across the country.
Competition Details
The championship will feature more than 700 athletes competing in 42 events, with 21 men’s and 21 women’s events taking place over the three-day period. The events will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions, allowing spectators to witness the best of Spanish athletics.
Expected Turnout
The Tarragona city council anticipates that the event will draw around 1,500 people to the city, including athletes, coaches, staff, and companions. This influx of visitors is expected to boost the local economy and promote Tarragona as a hub for sports tourism.
Venue Experience
The Natalia Rodríguez stadium, where the championship will be held, has already demonstrated its capability to host major athletics events. In 2023, it successfully hosted the Spanish Under-23 Athletics Championship, and in 2020, it welcomed the under-18 category. The stadium’s experience in hosting high-profile events ensures a seamless and successful championship.
