Tamil Nadu Kalaimamani, MS Subbulakshmi Awards Announced: Sai Pallavi, Anirudh, Yesudas Honored

The creative world is buzzing with excitement after the Tamil Nadu government announced its annual arts and culture awards. It’s a grand moment of recognition for many talents across different fields. These prestigious honors, including the Bharathiyar, MS Subbulakshmi, and Kalaimamani awards, will celebrate contributions from 2021, 2022, and 2023.

A highlight of this announcement is the legendary singer KJ Yesudas. He will receive the MS Subbulakshmi award for his outstanding work in music. Actress Sai Pallavi is also set to take home a coveted Kalaimamani award, alongside a long list of other celebrated artists. Even musician Anirudh Ravichander will be honored with a Kalaimamani.

Kalaimamani Award Winners: A Look at Each Year

The Kalaimamani awards honor a diverse group of artists each year. The list for 2021 includes some familiar names. Actress Sai Pallavi and actor SJ Suryah are among the honorees. Director Lingusamy also made the cut. Behind-the-scenes talents are not forgotten; set designer M Jayakumar and stunt choreographer Super Subbarayan will receive awards. Television actor PK Kamlesh rounds out this impressive list for 2021.

Moving to the 2022 awards, actor Vikram Prabhu is a standout name. Jaya VC Guhanathan also earned recognition. Lyricist Viveka will be celebrated for his words. Public relations officer Diamond Babu and still photographer Lakshmikantan are also on the list. Television actor Metty Oli Gayatri is being honored for her artistic contributions as well.

The 2023 awards feature actor Manikandan and actor George Maryan. Musician Anirudh Ravichander is among the prominent personalities. Singer Shweta Mohan and choreographer Sandy, also known as Santhoshkumar, are set to receive awards. Public relations officer Nikkil Murukan is another honoree. Television actors NP Umashankar Babu and Azhagan Thamizhmani will also be given the Kalaimamani award.

The Big Day Approaches

These special awards were announced on Wednesday. They will be formally presented in October by Chief Minister MK Stalin. The Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram handles these awards. This organization is part of the Directorate of Art and Culture. Each winning artist will receive a certificate and three shiny gold medals. It’s a wonderful way to acknowledge their hard work and dedication to art.
