Taliban decision hurts Afghanistan cricket, Australia cancels ODI series

Cricket Australia has canceled the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan due to take place in March. Cricket Australia has made this decision due to a decision by the Taliban government in Afghanistan. In fact, the Taliban have banned the education and employment of girls and women in Afghanistan. Due to this discrimination against women, Australia has decided not to play cricket with Afghanistan as a protest against the Taliban.

The Australia team was going to play this ODI series against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates. On Thursday, Cricket Australia announced the cancellation of this ODI series. Cricket Australia said in a tweet: ‘Cricket Australia supports and wants to grow this game around the world, including Afghanistan. We will continue to engage with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in the hope that there will be further improvement in the status of women and girls there. We also want to thank the Australian Government for supporting us on this matter.

This is a big blow for Afghanistan cricket. Actually, this team has been playing well in recent years. If this team has more opportunities to play two-way series against big teams, then this team can improve in the future.
