The movie “Udaipur Files” is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. A central committee recently stepped in. They told the filmmakers they need to make some big changes. Without these changes, the movie won’t see the light of day. This whole situation started after a directive from the Delhi High Court.
Right now, the film can’t be shown to anyone. The Supreme Court has extended its ban. The movie won’t hit screens until at least July 24. This decision followed the committee’s recommendations. They looked at the film closely. Their goal was to ensure it meets public exhibition standards. News agency ANI reports that the committee has ordered six specific changes.
The committee has pointed out a total of six areas needing a fix. First, they looked at the movie’s opening disclaimer. They want the filmmakers to rewrite it. It needs to be less problematic. Also, some credit frames thank certain people. The committee said these must go.
There’s also a scene causing a stir. It’s an AI-generated part. This scene supposedly shows a style of punishment from countries like Saudi Arabia. The committee wants this scene either cut completely or changed a lot. They believe such a scene could hurt feelings. It might also send the wrong message to viewers.
Another big part of the changes involves a character. This character is named ‘Nutan Sharma’. The committee insists on a name change for this character. They also demand that all dialogues tied to Nutan Sharma be removed. Especially the ones that talk about religious books. The committee feels these lines could upset people. They might even cause social tension.
The committee also brought up dialogues connected to the Baloch community. They want these removed too. Their worry is these lines could cause international problems. They might even damage the country’s image on the world stage. The Central Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is serious about these suggestions. They have told the filmmakers clearly: no public or commercial release until all changes are made.

So, what’s all the fuss about ‘Udaipur Files’? The movie is about the brutal killing of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor. This happened in June 2022 in Udaipur. He was murdered due to religious extremism. When the movie’s teaser came out, it sparked an uproar. Many people said it was spreading hate against a certain community. The film was supposed to come out on July 10. But the Delhi High Court put a stop to it that very day. That’s when they formed the central committee to review the film.

Let’s talk about who is in ‘Udaipur Files’. Vijay Raj plays the main role of Kanhaiya Lal. Rajneesh Duggal takes on the part of Ishwar Singh, an Intelligence Bureau officer. Preeti Jhangiani plays Ishwar Singh’s wife, who is a journalist. Other actors in key roles include Puneet Vashisht, Mushtaq Khan, and Jaishree Mahto. Bharat S. Shrinate and Jayant Sinha directed the film. Amit Jani is the producer.
