Launched late last year, the M1 marks a turning point for Apple. The Cupertino maker has started to transition from the usual Intel processors in its computers to a true home-produced system-on-a-chip.
As you would expect in a transition phase, many applications are not natively compatible with MacBooks and iMacs already equipped with this processor. This was the case with Spotify, which just changed.
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes on this and are happy to announce that we now have a beta version of our app available. It features many compatibility improvements and optimizations for Apple’s new architecture” Spotify said in a statement.

After downloading the beta version of Spotify to your Mac with M1, double click on the “.dmg” file, then move it to your Applications folder. This will replace the version of Spotify that you may have already installed on your model.
You should keep in mind that “being a beta, unexpected behavior can occur”. Spotify is committed to using all feedback and information you provide to improve this app version of its music streaming service.
