Sporting Clube de Portugal secured a commanding 8-0 futsal victory over Quinta dos Lombos on Saturday, propelling them into second place in the Liga Placard standings.
The win marked a dominant return to form for Sporting in the domestic league. They established a formidable 5-0 lead by halftime at the João Rocha stadium.
Bruno Pinto netted twice in the first half, scoring in the fifth and 20th minutes. Rocha also found the net in the fifth minute.
Zicky Té added a goal in the 10th minute. Pauleta scored in the 18th minute to round out the first-half scoring.
Sporting maintained their offensive intensity after the break. Zicky Té completed his brace in the 30th minute.
Diogo Santos scored a minute later in the 31st minute. Rocha then sealed the 8-0 scoreline with his second goal in the 34th minute.
This victory gives Sporting 15 points from a possible 18. Their only league defeat this season was a 4-2 loss to rivals Benfica in the fifth round.
The top of the Liga Placard remains highly competitive. Both Benfica and Leões de Porto Salvo entered the weekend with perfect records, with Leões de Porto Salvo’s match against Torreense yet to conclude.
