Spanish Divers García Boissier and Cortés Shine in 3m Springboard Event

García Boissier and Juan Pablo Cortés, European silver in 3 meter platform jump

Nicolás García Boissier and Juan Pablo Cortés, the Spanish jumping duo, secured Spain’s fifth medal at the European Championships in Belgrade, winning silver in the synchronized 3-meter springboard final.

García Boissier, who won bronze in the event at the World Cup in Doha, participated in the European Championship without his regular partner, Adrián Abadia, who missed the competition due to personal reasons. For his part, Cortés, an Olympic gold medalist in the mixed team, was competing in his third final at the European Championships.

The Spanish duo scored 379.08 points to finish behind the French pair, Jules Bouyer and Alexis Jandard, who scored a 404.52 points. The Spanish pair impressed with two strong opening jumps, which positioned them among the top contenders. Throughout the competition, they maintained their scores, with their best jump being the dive, which earned them 72.54 points and sealed their second-place finish.

The Spanish duo achieved a historic podium finish in Belgrade, beating Poland and Italy and holding off the French duo who increased their lead in the fourth round. Polish pair Kacper Lesiak and Andrzej Rzeszutek rounded out the podium with a 375.24 points score to take the bronze medal.

The absence of the men’s 10-meter springboard final, competed by Carlos Camacho and Jorge Rodríguez Ledesma, marked an impressive haul for the Spanish team at the European Championships, with a total of 10 medals, including four golds, two silvers, and a bronze.
