Portuguese football club Sporting Clube de Braga’s members have approved the board’s financial reports and future budget but rejected proposed changes to the club’s core statutes.
Two distinct proposals for statutory alterations failed to secure the required three-quarters majority vote during the ordinary general assembly held on Saturday.
One proposal sought to relocate the club’s official headquarters from its Municipal Stadium to a new Sports City complex. It received 1,146 votes in favor (49.6%), 1,010 against, and 154 abstentions, falling short of approval.
A second proposal, addressing two points within Article 117 related to statutory amendments, also did not pass. It garnered 966 votes in favor (41.8%), 1,274 against, and 71 abstentions.
Despite rejecting these structural reforms, members endorsed the club’s financial direction.
The 2024/25 financial report, which detailed a loss of nearly $4 million (approximately 3.7 million euros), was approved by a majority of 2,069 votes.
The budget for the 2025/26 season, projecting a positive balance of over $325,000 (approximately 305,000 euros), also passed with 2,104 votes.
The assembly took place at the AMCO Arena, the club’s pavilion, and saw 318 members attend. These attendees represented a total of 2,311 eligible votes.
