Smith raised questions about Kohli’s break in the first Test against New Zealand, said: surprised …

Former New Zealand cricket team wicket-keeper batsman Ian Smith is unhappy with the decision of Virat Kohli, test captain of the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI), to rest in the match inaugural against the team led by Kane Williamson.

We inform that the first Test match between India and New Zealand will be played on November 25 in Kanpur. Virat Kohli has rested for the first test and Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in his absence, while the regular skipper will return for the second test from December 3 in Mumbai.

Smith, 60, who has played 63 Tests for New Zealand, has scored more than 1800 runs. Kohli aside, he’s not happy that Rohit Sharma rested for the two-test series. Smith told sen.com.au on Tuesday, “India has eliminated Kohli and Rohit, it really amazes me that people are resting on test cricket these days. It frustrates me a lot.”

Smith said New Zealand should play three spinners in the Kanpur Test, given the nature of the subcontinent’s releases. He also named the eleven players he would like to see Captain Kane Williamson on the opening test field.

“You have to have (Neil) Wagner, so when you’re in trouble, he can try to get you out of it with his stamina,” Smith said.

Smith plays with the XI for New Zealand: Tom Latham, Will Young, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Tom Blundell, Rachin Ravindra, William Somerville, Ajaz Patel, Kyle Jamieson and Neil Wagner.
