Siege against India, resolution passed in US Congress

A resolution condemning the growing Islamophobia, human rights and religious freedom violations in India has been submitted to the US Congress.

The atrocities against minorities in India, especially Muslims, have been going on for decades and the world has kept a close eye on them till now. Violations are now being voiced around the world, and a resolution has been filed in the US Congress condemning recent actions in India.

The resolution, tabled by Democrat Congressman Alhan Omar, said that Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Dalits, Devas and other religious and cultural minorities were being targeted in India. The status of the country should be given.

A hearing on Islamophobia will be held in the US Congress on June 30, in which the issue of blasphemous statements by the leaders of the Indian ruling party BJP is also likely to be discussed. It may be recalled that Alhan Omar had visited the LoC in Azad Jammu and Kashmir last month.

Earlier this month, US Secretary of State Anthony Blankenship and his ambassador for international religious freedom condemned violations of religious freedom in India. Earlier, a USCIRF report in late April recommended that India be blacklisted for human rights abuses.
