Sialkot tragedy: Statement of wife and brother of slain factory manager came to light

Colombo: The statement of the wife of a Sri Lankan manager who was killed by a mob in Sialkot has come to light, in which she has demanded a fair investigation from the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister.

According to ARY News, the wife of Sri Lankan citizen and company manager Priyantha Kumar, who was killed a day earlier in Sialkot on charges of insult by factory workers, broke the silence.

The manager’s wife, Niroshi BBC “My husband was an innocent man. I saw a video of the murder on the internet, which made it hard to believe because it was an inhumane act,” she said in a statement.

Niroshi has demanded of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan to conduct a fair investigation into her husband’s murder and bring the perpetrators to justice. The victim’s brother said that Priyantha had been working in Sialkot factory since 2012.

He said that the victim has two children, one of whom is 14 years old and the other is 12 years old. After the owner, the Rajkot factory was managed by Priyantha.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka has expressed hope that Imran Khan will bring those involved in the incident to justice and provide justice to the affected family.

It may be recalled that a day ago, a foreign manager working in a leather factory in Sialkot was killed by the employees on charges of blasphemy, while the body of the deceased was brought to the square and burnt.

Police arrested more than 100 suspects, including one who confessed to the media after the incident, while the case has been registered under terrorism provisions.
