Shreyas Iyer Returns, Uncertainty Looms Over Virat, Rohit Contracts

Big changes are coming to the BCCI central contract list. The Indian cricket board might release the list this week, and it’s likely that Shreyas Iyer will make a comeback. Iyer was dropped from the list last year because he didn’t play domestic cricket.

Now, a media report says BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia will meet with Indian cricket team Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar on March 29 to discuss the central contract list.

What’s happening with Iyer and Ishan Kishan?

The Times of India reports that Iyer will get his central contract back, but it’s not clear what will happen to Ishan Kishan. Like Iyer, Kishan was also dropped from the list last year for not playing domestic cricket. There’s still a lot of talk about whether Kishan should get a central contract.

Trouble in the A+ category

There’s been a lot of drama about the A+ category in the BCCI central contract list. Some people think Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja might be removed from this category. But the Times of India says all three senior cricketers will likely stay in the A+ category, even though they’ve retired from T20 cricket. The A+ category players get a yearly salary of 7 crore rupees from the BCCI.

Iyer’s reward for good performance

Shreyas Iyer is getting a reward for his great performance. He was the top run-scorer for India in 2025, with 243 runs in five matches at an average of 48.60. This is a big deal, and it looks like he’ll be back in the central contract list.
