Two men, ages 51 and 31, were shot in separate incidents on Wednesday night and early Thursday in the Cerro Norte and Malvín Norte neighborhoods. Both have a history of run-ins with the law.
The older man was shot around 3 am while standing at the intersection of Santín Carlos Rossi and Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Cerro Norte. The Republican Guard found him lying on the sidewalk and rushed him to the nearby Cerro hospital. Doctors discovered a gunshot wound in his right buttock and another in his left leg, which fractured the bone. Luckily, neither injury was life-threatening.
According to the 51-year-old, he was walking when another man on foot snuck up behind him and opened fire. He claimed to have no idea why he was targeted and declined to press charges. This victim has seven prior convictions on his record.
Second Shooting
Just hours earlier, the 31-year-old was found shot near the intersection of streets 5 and 21 in Malvín Norte, around 8 pm. He had been hit in the buttock and hip. Police took him to Pasteur Hospital, where doctors confirmed the gunshot wound. His condition is stable.
Like the first victim, this man chose not to cooperate with authorities, refusing to provide any information about the attack or file a complaint. His record shows 16 previous run-ins with the law.
