The director of She-Hulk, Kat Coiro, explains how the series strikes a balance between a comedy and a superhero show Marvel. As Marvel continues to expand the mcu with its streaming platform Disney+, several comic book characters are finally getting a live-action treatment. she hulk is the next MCU series to be released on the big-eared giant’s streaming platform. She introduces Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), as Jennifer Walters, cousin of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) who transforms into a green creature after receiving a blood transfusion from him.

Tatiana Maslany plays alongside a cast including Jameela Jamil as Titania, She-Hulk’s rival, Josh Segarra, Ginger Gonzaga, Jon Bass and Renee Elise Goldsberry. The show’s approach to Jennifer’s dilemma is far more comedic than the usual tone of the MCU, She-Hulk incorporates the standard elements of a superhero series, which seem to be primed for hilarity and jokes.

It was always about finding a balance between creating a new genre for Marvel, which is the half-hour comedy, and feeling that the show really fits into the MCU, that it’s big and cinematic and that it includes moments of action. This balance has always had to be found.

Besides the balance to be found for such an important character in the universe marvel comics introduced on the platform Disney+ in a 30-minute episode format, with a light tone and centered on comedy, the director also deals with the strong disputes that already exist around the show. Indeed, the final rendering of the CGI relegated the series to the background from a purely aesthetic point of view, even though the mcu has been heavily criticized for its special effects lately. she hulk will be no exception to fan remarks.
