Bollywood legend Dharmendra has passed away at the age of 89. He died on November 24, 2025, following a long illness. The news has left the entire Bollywood community and millions of fans in deep shock.
Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore offered an emotional tribute to her former co-star. She and Dharmendra shared the screen in several memorable films. These include ‘Anupama,’ ‘Devar,’ ‘Mere Humdam Mere Dost,’ and ‘Chupke Chupke.’
In a recent interview with India Today, Tagore fondly recalled her experiences working alongside him. She described Dharmendra as an inherently kind-hearted, warm, and generous individual. He never carried himself with the airs of a celebrity.
Tagore recounted feeling completely safe whenever she was with him. She highlighted his sincerity in conversation, his infectious smile, and his frankness as his defining characteristics. Dharmendra was known for helping countless people.
Tagore noted that it is very difficult to find someone like him in today’s world. She also recalled his immense popularity, with fans gathering to see him even during visits to the United States.
She had held onto hope that he would recover and be able to celebrate his upcoming birthday. Both Dharmendra and Sharmila Tagore share December 8 as their birthday. Dharmendra would have turned 90 next month, while Tagore would have reached 81 years of age.
Dharmendra’s illustrious career spanned an impressive six decades in the Indian film industry. His final film appearance will be in ‘Ikkis,’ which is scheduled for release on December 25, 2025. In ‘Ikkis,’ Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, Agastya Nanda, will star as Arun Khetrapal. Dharmendra was previously seen in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies,’ which premiered on Netflix.
