Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour has been named the highest-grossing Latin tour by a female artist. The ongoing stadium tour has also secured the title of the second highest-grossing Latin tour in history. It is projected to claim the top spot by the time its December dates conclude.
The 48-year-old Grammy winner began her tour in April 2024. In recognition of this historic achievement, Billboard honored the “Waka Waka” singer with the Global Touring Icon award at the Billboard 2025 Live Music Summit.
Marty Hom, Shakira’s tour director, presented her with the award. Hom praised her dedication, stating, “We witness every day how much you work to give the best possible show to all your fans.”
Shakira expressed her surprise and motivation, as reported by Billboard. “It’s encouraging and inspiring,” she told Hom. “I never thought, not even in my wildest dreams, that I could fill all the stadiums.”
She described the current trek as “the best tour of my life,” despite the intensive work involved. Shakira noted that she feels she is “just beginning my career,” even after 30 years in the industry.
The “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour, which shares its name with her album, will wrap up in December, having completed a total of 82 concerts. Sixty-four of these dates have already generated over $327.4 million in revenue. More than 2.5 million tickets have been sold to date.
The album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” quickly ascended to the number one position on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts.
Among the tour’s memorable stops were 12 performances at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros. This marked a new record for the renowned venue. The Mexico City concerts sold 65,000 tickets per night, accumulating a total of 780,000 tickets.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer recently commented on another significant moment for Latin artists. In late September, Bad Bunny was announced as the headliner for the Super Bowl LX Apple Music halftime show, scheduled for February 8, 2026.
The 31-year-old artist has drawn criticism for his stated intention to perform an all-Spanish language show. Shakira supported the decision, telling Variety, “It was about time!”
She recalled her own Super Bowl LIV performance with Jennifer Lopez. Shakira noted, “Even including part of the show in Spanish was a risky decision.”
Shakira believes her past efforts helped pave the way for wider acceptance. “The acceptance of Spanish music as part of the mainstream has advanced a lot since I started,” she said. She hopes her previous experiences with resistance in the English-speaking world helped open doors for today’s artists.
Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance will be a historic first. It will mark the first time a male Latin artist headlines the Super Bowl halftime show.
