Sevilla has received some much-needed good news. The morning training session, led by García Pimienta, didn’t bring any major surprises, but it did see the return of a key player. Yesterday, Sambi Lokonga and Akor Adams made positive progress in their recovery, working on their fitness on the grass. Today, it was the turn of the Catalan midfielder, Jordán, who has overcome the quadriceps overload in his right leg that kept him out of the team since last Sunday, including the match against Mallorca. Jordán’s return should provide a boost to a struggling attack that urgently needs to find its footing. As for the Belgian and Nigerian players, they will have to wait at least another week before rejoining the group.
On the other hand, Sevilla will be without Nemanja Gudelj for the upcoming game against Rayo Vallecano, as he’s expected to be out for at least two weeks due to a myofascial lesion in the long adductor of his left thigh, as confirmed by the club. This means the Serbian player will join the long-term absentees, including Tanguy Nianzou.
Canteranos join the first team in training
To compensate for the losses, young players Ramón Martínez, Manu Bueno, and Leandro Antonetti have been working with the first team. Notably, the midfielder has already become a regular in García Pimienta’s sessions and has been enjoying his trust with playing minutes.
The team will train again on Friday morning, which will be their last session before heading to Madrid. García Pimienta will then appear before the media in the press room of the Sports City. The team will travel to the capital on Friday afternoon, ahead of their match against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, in the 26th round of LaLiga.
