Saudi Arabia: Important Government Guidelines for Employees

Riyadh: The Saudi government has issued guidelines for domestic and foreign employees working in the kingdom, which will make it easier for employees to exercise their rights.

The Saudi Ministry of Manpower and Social Welfare has said that ratification of the employment contract protects the rights of both the employer and the employee and has three benefits.

According to Saudi media, Secretary of Manpower and Social Welfare Satam Al-Harbi said that the program of ratification of employment contracts is for Saudi and every foreign employee. The move puts the rights of Saudi or foreign employees on the record.

He said that the most important program of the private sector is to have the employment contract of every Saudi and foreign employee on record online.

Thanks to this, all his rights take the form of a document. However, the employment contract must be approved by the parties, in which case the employment contract will take the form of a legal document.

“It includes all employment contracts with private labor law firms,” he said. These days, any worker entering the labor market, whether a foreigner or a Saudi, must confirm his or her employment contract online.

The Secretary Manpower and Social Welfare said that only after this the relationship between employer and employee is established. In the event of a dispute, the same certified employment contract is presented in the Labor Courts. At present, 60% of the contracts of private sector employees have online validation, he said.
