Barça will be without a key player for three weeks

Kevin Pinter will be sidelined for three weeks for Barcelona, following the medical evaluation to determine the extent of the injury he sustained in the Copa del Rey quarterfinal match against Tenerife. It appears that while making a pass, the player suffered a recurrence of tendinopathy in the biceps of his left shoulder, an issue he had previously dealt with. To address this, Pinter will undergo conservative treatment in an effort to recover.

The timing of the injury is somewhat fortunate, as there are no Euroleague or Endesa League games scheduled for next week due to the FIBA windows, giving Pinter a bit of a buffer for his return. However, his absence will certainly be felt, particularly in the crucial Euroleague matchup on February 27 at the Movistar Arena. Assuming the recovery stays on track, Pinter is likely to miss not only this pivotal game but also upcoming matches against Alba Berlin and in the Endesa League against Breogán River and Tenerife.

Pinter’s injury compounds the challenges facing Barcelona, as he joins Jan Vesely on the sidelines. Vesely is expected to be out for approximately two months due to an osteochondral injury in the femur of his right knee, with a potential return slated for early April. Furthermore, the team has already suffered the loss of Nico Laprovittola for the entire season due to a severe injury involving the anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus of his right knee. This means that three key players for Barça will be absent, significantly impacting the team’s dynamics and performance in the coming weeks.
