Reports from South Korea are buzzing with news about Samsung’s latest foldable phones. The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 have just set a new pre-order record in their home market. Between July 15 and July 21, 2025, these two devices combined for an amazing 1.04 million pre-orders.
This new figure beats past records. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 had 1.02 million pre-orders in 2023. Even more recently, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 hit 910,000 pre-orders in 2024. This shows a growing interest in Samsung’s bendable screen technology.
According to the South Korean tech news site ETNews, the Galaxy Z Fold7 was the more popular choice this time. It grabbed a 60% share of pre-orders from major carriers in the country. These include SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+.
This means the Galaxy Z Flip7 took the remaining 40% of pre-orders. ETNews did not specify if the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE version was part of these numbers.
This marks a significant moment for Samsung. It’s the first time the book-style Galaxy Z Fold has seen more pre-orders than the flip phone-style Z Flip. In previous years, the Z Flip was more dominant. The Galaxy Z Flip5, released in 2023, accounted for 70% of pre-orders. The Galaxy Z Flip6, from 2024, still led with 60%. This shift suggests a change in what foldable phone buyers want.
More details about the buyers reveal interesting trends. The Galaxy Z Fold7 was most popular with male customers, making up 83% of its pre-orders. For the Z Flip7, female customers were the biggest group, at 59%. Plus, over 60% of all pre-orders for both phones came from people aged 30 to 50. This is a clear jump from the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, which mainly appealed to the 20 to 30 age group.
As for color preference, the most popular choice for both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 was Blue Shadow.
Beyond its home market, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 also saw a strong welcome in India. In just two days, they received 210,000 pre-orders. This number is quite close to the pre-orders for Samsung’s high-end Galaxy S25 series earlier in 2025.
