Samsung is reportedly pivoting its flagship smartphone strategy for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, introducing a new ultra-slim design while discontinuing a previous “Edge” variant, amidst details of its global launch event and updated specifications.
Korean media reports indicate Samsung will host its Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25, 2026. The event is slated for San Francisco, United States.
This date resolves earlier rumors suggesting a delayed launch into March 2026. Samsung typically unveils its Galaxy S series in late January.
The flagship Galaxy S26 series is expected to feature standard Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra models.
However, the Galaxy S26 Edge model is reportedly not part of the lineup.
According to the Netherlands-based website GalaxyClub, Samsung has shelved the development project for the S26 Edge.
Instead, the company is reportedly working on a new ultra-slim flagship, codenamed ‘More Slim.’ This new device is expected to be even thinner than the current Galaxy S25 Edge, which measures 5.8 mm.
The upcoming S26 series is rumored to integrate advanced chipsets. These include Samsung’s own Exynos 2600, featuring a 10-core CPU with speeds up to 3.55 GHz.
Alternatively, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, an 8-core CPU reaching up to 4.60 GHz, is also expected.
Models sold in the United States, China, and Japan will reportedly be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Devices distributed in South Korea, Europe, and other international markets will likely feature the Exynos 2600.
Specific upgrades are also rumored for individual S26 models.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is anticipated to feature a 6.9-inch QHD Samsung M14 OLED display. It may include a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel zoom camera with a 1/3.52-inch sensor providing 3x optical zoom. Powering this model could be a 5,400 mAh battery.
The Galaxy S26+ is expected to come with a 6.7-inch QHD Samsung M14 OLED display. Its main camera is rumored to be 50 megapixels with a 1/1.3-inch sensor.
The standard Galaxy S26 model is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch QHD Samsung M14 OLED display and a 50-megapixel main camera.
