Determining which athlete is the best in history always generates a heated debate. Results, times, medals, rivals or simply feelings and opinion are intermingled in the argument. What nobody can dispute is that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce enters the applicants in the female category. ‘Rocket Pocket’ (the pocket rocket), the prodigious 36-year-old Jamaican sprinter (1.60 m and 52 kilos) who has 13 world medals (ten gold) in the open air and eight Olympic medals (three gold), was the great star among the 171 athletes from 45 countries at the Madrid event, in Vallehermoso (with 5,623 people in the stands) of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver prevailing in the 100 meters with 10.83 ahead of a sensational Jaël-Sakura Bestué with 11.10 (personal best) four hundredths of the Spanish record.

“I always believe that the best is yet to come; I have confidence, which comes from my daily work”, explains SAFP, the ‘world’s fastest mom’ and female Laureus laureate in 2023, who has Paris 2024, his fifth Olympic Games, in mind, although before that he will go to the World Cups in Budapest to continue increasing his planetary booty and the main objective of achieving his sixth consecutive gold in the hectometre (“it is my great goal of the year”) equaling the pole vaulter Sergei Bubka, who with six leads the historical classification with the most consecutive successes in a test.

Another great athlete and Olympic medalist, and also a mother, Ana Peleteiro showed that she is getting closer to her level with a good series of 14.04; 14.15; null; 14.01; she didn’t jump; and null. He also highlighted the 1:59.88 (personal best) of Lorea Ibarzabal in 800, the fourth Spaniard to drop less than two minutes in history; the 1:44.72 (two hundredths of the minimum WA) of Adrián Ben in 800; and the 13.35 of Quique Llopis in the 110 hurdles. And very close to the RFEA minimum for Budapest was Iñaki Cañal in the 400, at two hundredths, with 45.27 (personal best).
