Russia Confirms Continued Cooperation with US Amid Trump’s Anger at Putin

Tensions between the US and Russia are running high after Donald Trump expressed his anger towards Vladimir Putin over the Ukraine conflict. In a surprising move, the Kremlin has announced that it will continue to work with the US despite the strain in their relationship.

On March 31, 2023, the Kremlin responded to Trump’s comments, stating that they will maintain their cooperation with the US. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, said, “We will continue to work with the US, starting with building our relationship.” However, he also mentioned that there are no plans for a phone call between Trump and Putin this week, but Putin is willing to talk if necessary.

This development comes after Trump told NBC News on Sunday, March 30, that he is angry with Putin for questioning the credibility of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and threatening to impose a 50% tariff on countries that buy Russian oil if a ceasefire agreement is not reached. Trump’s stance marks a significant shift from his previous approach, where he had been critical of Zelenskyy rather than Putin.

The situation escalated when Putin suggested establishing a temporary government in Ukraine, backed by the United Nations, to find a new president to replace Zelenskyy. Trump disagreed with this proposal, telling NBC News that replacing the leadership would mean no long-term agreement.

According to sources, including the BBC, the US and Russian officials have been trying to negotiate a deal to end the war in Ukraine. However, the relationship between the two leaders has become increasingly complicated, with Trump’s recent comments sparking a new wave of tension.

In a bid to ease the tension, the Kremlin has reaffirmed its commitment to working with the US. However, the outcome of this situation remains uncertain, with the US and Russia still at odds over the Ukraine conflict. The international community is watching closely, as the situation continues to unfold.
