The Supreme Court of Justice has rejected an appeal from two individuals implicated in the murder of Hernán Fiorito, a Peñarol fan killed by Nacional hooligans in 2016.
This decision upholds the sentences handed down by the Appeals Court in March 2023.
Camilo García Froste was sentenced to 25 years and 6 months in prison for his role in the crime.
Others received sentences ranging from 23 to 23 years and 6 months.
Background of the Case
The murder occurred on September 28, 2016, in Santa Lucía, during Peñarol’s anniversary celebrations.
Fiorito’s family has been seeking justice ever since.
Their lawyer, Jorge Barrera, expressed relief at the court’s decision.
He said the ruling brings more peace to Fiorito’s grave and thanked the family for trusting him with the case.

The appeal was filed by lawyers for Matías Sebastián Merlo Rodríguez and Guillermo Federico Fortunatto Delgado.
One defendant, Washington Omar Simón Rodríguez, had his case dismissed due to his death.
