Rumpus over retention of reserve day in India-Pakistan match, experienced captain attacks

In the 2023 Asia Cup, the Pakistan team is eliminated from the tournament after losing the match against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, former Sri Lanka team captain Arjun Ranatunga has made a big statement about retaining a reserve day in the Super 4 match between India and Pakistan while giving a strong reaction to the ICC and BCCI. Regarding the ICC, Ranatunga said they should protect cricket and not work under pressure from any country.

In view of the threat of rain in connection with the India-Pakistan match, it was decided to set aside a reserve day in the middle of the tournament for just this one match in the Super 4. Arjun Ranatunga, while addressing a press conference on the issue, said that they are looking at the Asia Cup where all the rules are decided before the start of the tournament but the rules were changed before the India-Pakistan match. Where is ACC? What does ICC do?

Arjun Ranatunga further said that on this matter, I would not be at all surprised if changes were made in the rules before the World Cup match between India and Pakistan and ICC also said nothing about this and said that it was fine. ICC has nothing in its hands. Changing the tournament rules for one or two teams would be detrimental to cricket. I am very disappointed with this decision.

The Super 4 match between India and Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo lasted two days due to rain disruptions. After that, Indian team defeated Pakistan in this match with a huge win of 228 runs. After that, the Indian team defeated Sri Lanka in the next match and secured their place in the final.
