In just five days Antonio Rüdiger will be free to negotiate with any club. His contract with Chelsea ends next July, so once 2022 begins, FIFA legally allows him to sign a new agreement for next season. And, among the many attempts it has received in recent weeks Real Madrid appears. The player’s representatives are filtering this white interest along with that of other teams. However, Real Madrid itself denies the operation, for now, as it is very happy with the centrals it has on staff. In this way, the German center-back will have to wait, at least, for Madrid to complete its roadmap: first Mbappé, then Haaland, if he gets within range.
The main obstacle to signing Rüdiger is financially: the center-back wants a great contract of 12 million net per season. In the case of Madrid, it would be an operation similar to that of Alaba, who arrived last summer, aged 29, and asking for a salary of 11 million per year. Although for part of Real Madrid it was an excessive contract, in just half a season he has shown that his arrival was a total success.
Almost all the great teams of the continent have approached the environment of the German international to ask about their situation. The last was PSG, who came to meet with his brother and agent, Sahr Senesie, to confirm their interest and advance them that they were willing to make an offer once possible.. There he is not only interested in the extraordinary level of the footballer, but also in winning a battle in the cold war that faces Real Madrid. Bayern also bid for him after the departure of Alaba.
Chelsea’s last attempt
Where they resist giving the player for lost is at Chelsea. The English press pointed out in recent days that the general director of the London club, Marina Granovskaia, is preparing a new offer to try to renew the defender. The main reason is that there are three other players in the same position entering their last six months of contract, Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Chistensen, and the board will make one last effort to try to retain them. However, the problem with Rüdiger is that he is asking for a very high salary that could create a dangerous precedent at Chelsea, so it seems difficult for them to reach the 12 million he is claiming. The last offer they presented was for 8.5, about two million more than what he currently receives.
