Content Creation’s Evolution and a Shift in Strategy
The content creation sector, despite being relatively new, has undergone significant changes over the past decade. From its humble beginnings with homemade and individual content, often based on gameplays, to the current high-quality and diverse content we see today. The evolution of this sector is best exemplified by the journey of early content creators, such as Rubius.
Early Content Creators and the Shift to Live Streaming
Rubius, a renowned YouTuber, initially gained fame through gameplays without a camera, later transitioning to vlogs and live streams on Twitch. Live streaming has become the priority for many creators, but Rubius has announced his intention to deviate from this trend.
A Return to Origins and a Reason Behind the Change
Rubius has expressed his desire to return to his content creation roots, which involves stopping live shows that feature his face. This change, though seemingly minor, aims to alleviate the issue of virality and clickbait on platforms like TikTok. The content creator acknowledges that this decision may affect his viewership, but prioritizes his happiness.
A Quote from Rubius on His Decision
Rubius shared his thoughts on this change on his Twitch channel: “I know that at some point I’ll take off my cam forever, or for a long time, because I know that this prevents things from going viral, and that people don’t remove clips or use my image for ‘baits’… If I take off the cam, I know it’s not the same, and that it’s not as shareable… I want to go back to 10 years ago, when I didn’t make videos with a camera and it was just pure gameplay.”
Rubius acknowledges that this decision may result in a loss of viewers, but is willing to take that risk to prioritize his happiness and revert to his content creation roots.
