Salvador Perez homered twice and Hunter Dozier homered as the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Perez hit a fourth-inning homer off Chris Archer and tied it 3-3 in the sixth with another homer, this time off Tyler Duffey (0-2).
One out later, Dozier hit a tiebreaking homer for the second game after he did the same with a two-run shot off Will Vest in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Detroit.
Amir Garrett (1-0) allowed no hits in one 2-thirds inning and along with four other relievers allowed only one scoreless hit in a total of four 2-thirds innings.
Archer gave up two runs, four hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings. He retired 10 straight batters before Perez hit a solo homer down the left-field line in the fourth inning. Pérez was limited to designated hitter duties due to blurred vision in his left eye.
Nicky Lopez, who had two doubles, drove in a wheelie run by walking with all base in the fifth.
Royals starter Carlos Hernandez allowed three runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.
