The I Sustainability, CSR and Sports Awards held yesterday at the Ilunion Pio XII Hotel (Madrid), have recognized companies and institutions that stand out for their commitment to sustainability, both environmental and social, always related to the world of sports. Among the winners are entities such as Real Madrid, recognized with the ‘Special Sponsor a Sportsman’ Award; the F League with its ‘Women’s Equality’ Award; Real Betis Balompié, recognized with the ‘Sustainability in Football’ Award or CaixaBank, awarded with the ‘Communication in social sustainability actions related to sport’ Award.
This first edition has had other great winners such as the Alberto Contador Foundation, winner of the ‘Sustainability in Cycling’ Award; Beone, recognized with the ‘Sustainability in Sports and Fitness Facilities’ Award; the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, awarded the “LG for Sustainability in the Municipal Scope” Award; ILUNION, winner of the ‘CSR and Sport’ Award; Mondo, with its ‘Sustainability in paddle tennis’ Award; the National Golf Center, winner of the ‘Sustainability and CSR in Golf’ Award; ADESP, recognized with the ‘Sustainability in Sports Institutions’ Award and the Ecomar Foundation, recognized with the ‘Sport, Water and Oceans’ Award.
Important figures from the sports world met at the gala, such as Beatriz Álvarez, president of the F League; Theresa Zabell, Olympic athlete and president of the Ecomar Foundation; José Hidalgo, president of ADESP (Spanish Sports Association); Gonzaga Escauriaza, president of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation; Ramón Morcillo, president of the Spanish Padel Federation, Jaime de Jaraíz, president and CEO of LG Spain and Portugal; Francisco Javier Contador, Director of the Alberto Contador Foundation or Ernesto Aspe, General Director of Matrix, among others.
This first edition has paid special attention to one of the most relevant environmental problems for the coming years: energy storage. Beatriz Álvarez, president of Liga F, declared: “We have only been here for a very short time, only 8 months, but I hope we have taken giant steps in women’s sports. I hope that with our actions and work we become a benchmark league”.
Alfredo Bustillo, director of sponsorships at CaixaBank, stated: “It is an honor to receive this award for our social commitment through sport. For his part, Jaime de Jaraíz, president and CEO of LG Spain and Portugal, added: “At LG we began our actions related to sustainability since 2017 and we are aware of the problem of global warming, since it can seriously affect our lives”. This first edition has had the Iberian Center for Research in Energy Storage (CIIAE) as the main sponsor. LG and Matrix have also joined as sponsors, and the Spanish Marketing Association, AneumLed and the World Football Summit have collaborated.
